keepin' busy

patrick salsapatrick and peter came over on saturday to work on the video and have a late lunch. i've met most of my ugandan friends on facebook, even my partner, andrew. i'm just amazed how God uses the internet to connect people to further His work on earth. there really aren't any coincidences, simply connections perfectly planned by Him. i also love how From The Heart House is becoming a gathering place to exchange ideas to help some children, and to enjoy fellowship, food and prayer. we are all anxiously awaiting tony's arrival.....can't wait to have our Perfecting Faith Ministries missionary here in kampala. can you hear me tony?
we had a lot of food. peter said he ate like a goat, grazing all day. patrick put salsa on everything but the oatmeal cookies...even took some food home to the kids at the safe house. we spent many hours writing the script for the video, even though it is not that long. patrick gave further testimony about his life on the streets when he was orphaned at age 15. we also searched through iphotos for the 'right ones' and peter had to laugh at me in my gomezi...we had to remove the word kampiringisa from the script all together because i simply cannot pronounce it on the first attempt....we used 'children's prison', which may be better because it is not specific. the safe house boys are much more specific when they give their testimonies...they tell their experiemnces there. it will all be on THE VIDEO, which hopefully will be completed in a couple weeks.

stripespeter and i met at phantom studios sunday morning to record the script. he asked if i was nervous. i said no and how long will this take? he said that it depended on how many mistakes i make.....yes, good point :) i had to laugh when we entered the studio because the recording engineer and i were dressed alike.....black and white vertical stripe shirts. i said we looked like we both had escaped from a maximum security prison and he said he hadn't noticed. guess that is why he works audio and not visual. :) it went really well. i kept saying 'saving up hope' rather than 'raising up hope', and the engineer kept giving me 'the signal' to SLOW DOWN! ugandans speak slowly and softly and i have to think most americans race through their sentences in a near shout. this video is going to be sooooo fantastic, because it is a from the heart effort by a lot of people.
we made it to and from kiganda without breaking down today. yay.of course we were in a rental car and not in our money pit van, which is still in the repair shop from our last trip to kiganda. the well drilling crew was at highway secondary school testing the flow of water and the output of the well....estimates are that it is flowing at 10,000 liters an hour! thank you Lord! everyone is so happy because now they can have all the clean water they need. we will soon lay pipes to the actual village of kiganda so the town can enjoy the water as well....no pun intended. the actual hand pump still needs to be installed, think that will be completed tomorrow.
on the way back into town, we stopped at a local furniture factory and ordered beds and wardrobes for the volunteeer's room and for tony's room. thank you Perfecting Faith Ministries. i had already bought some sheets from a street vendor while andrew was in the bank. i told andrew that the vendor said he would give me a good deal because he was hungry. andrew said i should have bought him food. hmpf...well this way i got sheets and he got the money to buy a few meals....seems fair to me. the director at highway secondary school gave me a can of insect repellant when he saw all my mosquito bites....he asked if the american volunteers were ready for the REAL africa! i said: "you mean the one without hot water, without air conditioning, without power, without ice, without fast food but WITH plenty of mosquitos?.....YES, YES they are...they will be here soon and they are READY!" can't wait to see y'all...we're waiting for you!
